From The Swan car park turn R (east) into church street. Where the lane turns left, turn R following the public footpath towards Hall Farm, leaving the farm and its pond on your left. Cross the lane then follow the hollow way on southwards past the house and across fields.
Follow the roads L and R past the Manor House into the no-through-lane which leads across the weirs to Nafford Lock.
Past the Lock follow the footpath straigt on, L onto Nafford Road which you follow as far as the T junction with the Comberton Road
Leave the new business units to your right, walk up the Wollas Hall drive. At the gatehouse to Woollas Hall take the marked footpath over the stile directly towards the tower. Rejoin the stone track then branch R at the gates where the track turns away left.
Cross the field diagonally (aiming for the salient ¼ mile west of the tower) to the gate and stile in the far corner of the field. Follow the track up through the woods then follow the ridge walk L towards the tower regaining you breath as the view unfolds.
From the tower you can see every step of your route and those with sharp eyes (or binoculars)
may be able to see The Swan Inn itself, where a drink and an well earned meal await your return.
On the highest point of the hill 100m eastwards a compass plaque will remind you what you are
able to see on a clear day.
Imogen and Nic Carson welcome your comments on this and other Swan Walks.
